DivX 3.11 movie won't play...

Hello,

The problem is that I can't play a downloaded movie it just doesn't do anything when i start to play it. But if i open it in virtual dub i can play parts of it.

All of my other (DivX 3.11, DivX 4.X, DivX 5.x) movies play so I have the right codecs installed on my system.

Here are some screenshots.

Virtual Dub screenshot:

G-spot screenshot:

When I try to re-encode with direct stream copy I get this error:

How can I fix/repiar the movie, so it's possible to play it. Is it possible to fix the header or something because I don't know anything of that .

Hope you guys can help me a little.

Thanks,
Kevin AMD

in virtualdub: try to 'scan video stream for errors' befor you re-encode (and play with 'error mode' afterwards)

try to encode video only (audio-no audio); just a wild guess; as the original file went through nandub, and audio might be VBR or SBR.

Yes the sound is VBR indeed but the problem is with the video stream, I know for sure since I tried to do this al without the sound to.

It doesn't work in the error mode in virtual dub neither. When I am at like half the movie I get a speed of 0.0 fps and A LOT of memory being used (like 210 mb other times this is around 50 mb).

when you scan video stream for errors does vdub stop/crash; or does it find any unreadable frames (that it can mask)?
if it just stopps and can not mask bad video frames, you can save parts of the movie (set end/beggining of chunks outside the problem area)...

there is a guide somewhere on this site about how to repair avis damaged during download.

I don't Thing it is damaged during the download, the scan in virtual dub work but it goes slower at frames -+ 85000 - 85250 after that the scanning speed is normal again.

The BSplayer or the MV2 player are very good choices
for playing back movies of almost any kind
I also recommend that you get rid of superfluent codecs using the "codec sniper"

the filters you need are included in the Tsunami filterpack mini
3.9.6... this is a very good filterpack if you are not that familiar
with codecs and filters.....

there is also a big version of the tsunami filterpack called 3.9.9
which can be found on the softwaresection of this site.....

but I STRONGLY recommend that you make yourself familiar
with the usage of codecs and filters before you use that.....
do not install all filters and codes of this very big pack....

the tsunami filterpack mini can be found here

go to dvd backupguide --->downloads--> codecs and filters
of the above mentioned site......

for the big one go here
http://divx-digest.com/ and go to software...

here you will also find the two excellent freewareplayers that I mentioned......

in addition to that read this post.... if you are still unsure

good luck!!

looks like you have about 8 seconds or so of bad frames

The area that it goes slower over are probably bad frames. Use vdub-mp3freeze to scan for video freezes. You can get it here http://www.digital-digest.com/dvd/do...irtualdub.html Scroll down till you see vdub_mp3_freeze.zip
after the scan it will create a log on your c: drive (c:badframes.log)
Open the log, go to the highest number listed, then go back to vdub, edit, goto, put in the number from the log. Click the yellow key frame (right) once then the black end mark (right). Then go to the lowest number from the same block, click the yellow keyframe (left) once, then the black start mark (left) then delete. Do the rest of the bad frames the same way. always start with the highest number of the highest block to start when you delete bad frames. otherwise you will mess up where all the other bad frames actually start and end.
Then do video direct streem copy
audio direct streem copy
save as avi

example..
21341
21342
21343
85000
85001
85002
85003
85004

here you would start with frame 85004 foward key frame then end
then you would go to 85001 back keyframe then start
delete
then do the same with 21343 to 21341

tsunamis filterpack 3.9.9 has never been available through divx digest

you will find the filterpack on my site next to the old 3.9.6 mini
