Cannot jump to time frame in ogm (xvid encoded)

I can see the video just fine, but when I try to drag the time navigation bar to a certain point, it just stops playing. It doesn't even track the time and catch up later, it just stops. I have ffdshow playing it and oggds for the sound. I can navigate for like the first 12 minutes of a video, but that's about it.

the file is encoded in xvid, I have both ffdshow and the xvid codec, and when I try to use one or the other it does the same thing (rather, it doesn't do anything)
