    Fast Eddie: ..... received error

I used the DVD decrypter rip a movie to my hard drive, then when I tried to use DVD shrink to author and compress it, I received an error stating: "DVD Shrink encountered an error and can not contiue." Failed to open file...(where decrypter ripped to...VIDEO_TS.VOB. The system can not find the specific file.

    What did I do wrong?

DVDDecrypter defaults to C drive/name of movie/VIDEO_TS folder.

Be sure to set the correct settings in Decrypter before your start the rip. Need all files for the rip. Usually default settings in Decrypter are OK.

If you can't get Decrypter to work right for you, you can use the OPEN DISK button in DVD Shrink instead of the OPEN FILES button in DVD Shrink to do the ripping which is the same thing DVDDecrypter does.

use OPEN FILES in Shrink is when you have ripped the DVD and the files are already on the hard drive. Like when you use DVDDecrypter to rip the DVD

use OPEN DISK in Shrink when you have not ripped the DVD files and you want Shrink to do this procedure

no they are set to main movie files only which will cause the error
whilst analizying in dvd shrink.Make sure you set to all files.

            DECRYPTIT,

Wrong, in Decrypter, the latest issue, file mode the default setting is all files.

You are NOT using the latest issue of DVDDecrypter which you should be using.

              Decrypt...

You were right about DVD decrypter. It defaulted to movie only and I had to set it to "all files"... It backed it up perfectly and I had no problems with DVD shrink accepting them. Now, here's my next question...In order for me to change this rip to 4:3 full screen, do I have to convert the files into AVI? and if I do...will Dr. DivX do the job? Already have the codecs installed.

                dvddimwit,

The design of this program is to use ONLY the software stated below and NO other software and follow the plan exactly.

For 16:9 widescreen DVD-9 movies (SOURCE DVD SCREEN SIZE)

DVDDecrypter (file mode or ifo mode)
                DVD2AVI (dvd to avi format)
TMPGEnc Plus (avi to mpeg2 & compress and clip frame option)
Ifo Edit (mpeg2 format to DVD format
                burn

For 4:3 full screen and 1.85:1 widescreen DVD-9 movies (SOURCE DVD SCREEN SIZE)

                DVDDecrypter (ripping)
DVD Shrink (compressing, create ISO image)
                DVDDecrypter (burn ISO image)

So if your SOURCE DVD movie is 16:9 widescreen and DVD-9 in size follow the example above which is for 16:9 wide screen DVD-9 movies to get to what you want which is full screen.

If your SOURCE DVD movie is 4:3 full screen or 1.85:1 widescreen DVD-9 in size follow the example for 4:3 full screen or 1.85:1 wide screen DVD-9 movies to get what you want which is full screen.

hey ed klein if i suggested that solution i did it for a right reason
if he got that error its either 1: using a previos version of
                    3.2.0.0 or
                    has set something by himself.

                    I'know what i'm saying!

If you wish to get the latest version of dvd decrypter downloaded from here http://www.dvddecrypter.com/download.asp

                    Latest version is 3.2.1.0

"full screen, do I have to convert the files into AVI? and if I do...will Dr. DivX do the job? Already have the codecs installed.''

If i where you i would cahnge that word "fullscreen'' and say that
you would like to remove black bars. IS that what you wish to do.
Ok, then you next step is to convert the vob, ifo, bup (VOB's-->files which you have ripped.)
into AVS and also dv2 project(since there are some encoders which need that). You will need a program like dvd2avi.

PLEASE YOU HAVE(must) READ SOME GUIDES OFFERED BY

                      or
READ UncasMS guides offerd in the divx forum.

After you have a look at these guides then feel free to ask questions if you find any kind of difficulties.

                        Thanks Decrypt....

The guides are exactly what I need and yes I want to remove those d**n bars. I thought the only way to do it was to convert the ratio format. I don't have the knowledge of this stuff like some of you do...Most the time when I look at some of these programs, I have no idea what to do with so many options and don't know what most of them mean, anyway! A "Dimwit" is what I am and I'm trying to learn. Thanks again "D"....

Again I always suggest to convert your whole dvd movie obviously unencypted to avs ,using an encoder like gk you will have plently of useful features where you can set your movie
compression and aspect ratio's as you wish.Just follow the guide for now.

                                Decrypt...

I used gk to convert...(nice program, I may add) then when I tried to use TMPEGnc to adjust the ratio and convert back to VOB, in the "Select Source File" section, for video I open the file that gk made and it's accepted, but when I try to input the audio file, I get "Can not open or unsupported"! I tried some of the links to the guides you have provided and some of them are either dead or they take me to Germany, where I can't read a single word they're saying. I need a guide for TMPEGnc. Maybe I haven't searched well enough...I'll keep trying.

                                Thanks
