    avi problem

So im having a problem with playing .avi files, it either says i dont have needed codecs or the codecs are broken or the file is in used by another program; i played all the movies without problems since this happened, when i analyze the movies with GSpot it finds 3-4 codecs which are able to open my movies; i cant even play a motion jpeg; i already tried deleting and adding .avi extension and reinstalling the codecs of course

i tried with WMP Allplayer, Bestplayer, Cinemaplayer, Vplayer etc
the avi's arent corrupted since my friends can play them and i tried many avi's

i can play them only with software designed to play broken files like VideoLAN or Avipreview from kazaa, all other players give me an error

    this might help:

    - open the file in virtualdubMOD

    - in case a warning comes up on *improper audio* DO NOT let
    vdMOD make changes

    - set video to *direct stream*

    - go to file => save as and save the video to a new name/file
