Odd Playback Problem - Am I the only one?

    Hi guys!

I was searching this forum and googled around, but obviously I'm the only one having this problem.

When I try to play this AVI in Zoomplayer, the picture is somehow cut off, it looks as if playback was zoomed in, showing not the whole picture, but a part of it in the middle. (hope you understand me) Just as if you would zoom into a picture. I tried the same with PowerDVD, WMP, all the same.

That's the movie. I have the newest VGA drivers, DirectX 9.0b... the same happens with other div3 movies

Please guys, help me, I have no idea what that could be

    Thank you!!!!!!!

Yes, I got it installed. It's still the same problem.. the picture is still cropped..

Should ffdshow normally regulate that by itself or do you have to change settings?

However... doesn't work with that tool, either

it was just another thought that maybe the playbackfilter was to blame and therefor ffdshow might be a good alternative

having installed ffdshow take a look at the configuration => codec settings and check if LIBAVCODEC is set for ALL mpeg-4 formats - though i should think this should be done by default when installing ffdshow

since the movies itself cant be causing the trouble and vga drivers, directx and playbackfilters have been re-installed i'm running out of ideas

Not looked at Zoomplayer myself. I guess you haven't got Zoom switched in?

              Hi guys!

First of all: thank you very much for your help, it's really appreciated by me!!!! Unfortunately, it doesn't work...

Yes, LIBAVCODEC was selected for all MPEG4s, so it's not that.

And the problem is not just in Zoomplayer, but WMP and PowerDVD as well.. so it's not some sort of configuration of a playback movie..

Ahhh.. some more ideas, maybe?? PLZ!

Something which is quite interesting: Just tried to open the files in Virtual Dub: And guess what: The film is being processed correctly!! Nothing cut off/cropped, just the whole picture!

But how can that be? Does somebody know?

You haven't got some crazy 'virtual desktop' option deeply buried in your graphics menu switched on perchance? .. or maybe off?!?

Can you tell I'm really grasping at straws here?

HAHA no, I don't think so.. got the Nvidia Desktop Stuff disabled..

But what I thought, is that Virtual Dub might bypass some filter, which is included in normal playback.. if it's that, I would just have to replace this filter with a new one and voilà..
