download & install the latest (alpha) version of "ffdshow", then try playing your files. if you still cannot play them,
download & install "virtualdubmod"
open one of the avi files (one that doesn't work) with virtualdubmod, then under "file", click "file information". post here everything you see in the little window that pops up.

when i try and play the movie, it says that i need the codec "FOURCC TM 20"
virtualdub won't even open it, it says "[!] Couldn't locate decompressor for format 'TM20' (unknown).
VirtualDub requires a Video for Windows (VFW) compatible codec to
decompress video. DirectShow codecs, such as those used by Windows Media
Player, are not suitable. Only 'Direct stream copy' is available for this
video.

ok, then this should do the trick:
download & install "netshow player" from here: http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/fil...id,3954,00.asp
then play your file
if the download doesn't work, search in googleComment
