    No OGG-Sound in AVI

I've been searching for a solution a couple of hours ago - with no success.

I've an AVI with the following Data : (GSPOT)
    Container:
    OpenDML (AVI v2.0)
    DivX Style "packed bitstream" AVI
    File Length Correct

    User Data /Meta Data :
    [USER] DivX999b000p
    [USER] XviD0037
    [USER] DivX999b000p

    Audio :
Codec : 0x6771 Ogg Vorbis 3 PLUS Ogg Vorbis
    Stat : Installed
    Info : 44100Hz 160 kb/s total (2 chnls)

Problem is : I have a picture, but no sound. I tried : Zoomplayer, WMP10, MPC, VLC, PowerDVD.

    Gspot can't render the Audio-Lane. I installed
    oggcodecs_0.69.8924.exe
    OggDS0995.exe

(tried K-Lite Codec Pack on other computer, too)

What i'm wondering about is, that i can listen to *.ogg in Foobar/Winamp and watch *.ogm Files with Ogg-Sound with no problems.

Just these files have no audio. 3 friends of mine (incl. the encoder) can watch the files WITH Sound.

Please help me out ... i don't know what else i can do

angel_de, uninstall the codec pack, then download & install this http://tobias.everwicked.com/oggds.htm

lol was half asleep, all fully awake now

you could try re-encoding the ogg audio to mp3, 'besweet' should be able to do the job...

          what you need is MediaXW-0.0.6

ogg vorbis in avi is not a good idea. Pretty much everyone I think gave up on it years ago, although ffmpeg supports it, but the overhead is huge and I think ffplay is about the only thing that can play it.

Your file wasn't created with ffmpeg though. Would have been created with the vorbis ACM codec and installing the same version should allow you to decode/play.

XviD0037 is quite recent though, which means so is the file. I would suggest to whoever created it, that in future if they want to use vorbis audio and XviD video to use mkv or ogm as a container. Even mp4 with the vorbis as a private stream would make more sense.

the best to combine mpeg-4 video (eg xvid) with ogg vorbis is using the matroska container

avi is simply too outdated for new technologies, like vorbis

I got it playing using DivxPlay AND installing driver for

Ogg Vorbis Codec for MSACM 0.0.3.6

                That finaly did the trick.

Its somewhere deep in the Divx FAQ but with the decimal
                number 26481 instead of 0x6771

                Electronics.
