Sorry what do you mean benchmark with cd speed?

And just for curiousity sake, why would I have to change this DMA setting now when it worked before.

I'm definatley going to try it, but I was just wondering.

I think it's software conflict, after reading the belarc
log, way too many competing/conflicting programs.
You have installed anything and everything, I could name a lot of examples.
Take out the trash. How much ram do you have available after booting up?

        LOl!

        OOPS!

That profile was before I got rid of all my codecs, interactual player, divx stuff, and some other things. This cpu came with a lot of crap installed on it.
I acutally haven't installed all that much!
The funny thing was, I already went through and trashed some useless stuff! LOl! I was kinda paranoid about uninstallling too many things without knowing what they were.

The design programs and such I need on there. There is alot of HP promotional software I know.

Could you name a couple that set off some alarms, just so I can get an idea of what you mean?

There may be a lot of crap on here but even with all this stuff the DVD player was working great until Mr. GeForce 6600 came onboard.

Sometime the only way to fix a factory computer is start from scratch,
done that a few times with new ones, the tech support people,
when you ask for drivers to new models that aren't on the internet yet,
understand, that's the first thing they do when they get one too.
              Just a tech thing.

                Problem Fixed!

I tried the nvidia fix Chewy and it made no differnce. Also DMA was already set where it should be. SO...on start up I pressed F10 and did a system restore. It put everything back on the cpu that was there when I bought it. Now everything works like a dream!!! Dvd's, games, new vid card, etc..! All works perfect. I am so relieved. I deleted all the "crap" that came installed and only loaded the codecs and such suggested on here. Everything still works great. WinDVD plays the Dvd perfect. I have no idea what went wrong before but everything is awesome again.

                Thanks for all your help

Forgot to mention I already updated windows, but a defrag couldn't hurt.

I defrag at least twice during a computer load.
