cropping mov file to fullscreen avi

Well is there any way using which I can accurately crop the mov files to fullscreen resolution & then encode them to avi. The quicktime trailers available from the apple site are all widescreen type. I wish to crop them to fullscreenconsidering only certain portions of the trailer. I have been using the divx codec for that purpose( square pixel method inside divx configuration dialog box) with TMPGenc Xpress but I came to know that divx codec is lossy. So using the msu losless codec, how should I do it ? I have made the AVS file out of mov using the directshowsource syntax & i also hav vdubmod. So wats next ? ANY HELP GUYZ ?
