its either cool 'n' queit (likely. it'll reduce core to 1000mhz at idle) or somebody's been tampering in things they shouldn't have!
maybe c&q works slightly different on a 754 system but on my current system using c&q leads to a different report in everest:

mine doesn't have the 'original value' listed, like deree's. c&q is on
deree, right-click desktop, click properties, 'screensaver', 'power'. is power scheme set to "minimal"? if so, change to 'always on'.
Ok I will try that one ...when I get home in about 12 hours or so....so does it look like somthing isn't right with my system? And remember I am a bit of a 'noob'..so plain english is best!

i am not saying anything is wrong because i simply am not sure
what i was wondering about is this:
my socket 754 amd athlon 64 3000+ newcastle had a core frequency of 2000mhz, which is one out two normal models for this cpu (the other 3000+ newcastle had a core freq of 1800 but was socket 939)
your everest details show your core freq is said to be only 1800 but the cpu is said to be an 3300+ which is contradictory as no amd with a core freq of 1800 will be considered a 3300+ processor
the 3300+ should have a core freq of 2400mhz
+++++++++++++++++
this is what makes us think
a possible solution to a difference between core freq and cpu model number can be the usage of amd's feature called cool & quiet
this technology reduces the core freq (when c&q is installed and enabled) in case your cpu is not under full load
in many cases the core will be reduced to almost half its freq - that's why my everest details say: 1000mhz (1800)
the original core is 1800 here but when c&q is working the freq drops down to 1000mhz in order to save power and produce less heat
we therefore thought about the possibility that you might use c&q and to check if that's the case you might either follow the steps which anonymez proposed or if you like download amd's power monitor which will also tell you a little more about the c&q option
hmmmm....well ...ummmm......yeah...I am so confused right now
that's you're in good company, we are confused too, the spec on your cpu don't match what we normally see, but that could be a glitch in everest and you HP bios.
the L2 reference was to this line,
L2 Cache 256 KB (On-Die, ECC, Full-Speed)
which I thought would be 512KB
memory in the cpu itself
edit: I skipped the socket 754 and went straight from socket a to 939.
hmmm I bought it at staples....did not get a system built for me, was a 'system in a box' still in the HP box...so is it possible it's not what it says it is? how much of a differene is there between an 1800mhz and 2400mhz? besides the obviouse answer of 600mhz...Thanks Guys..I love this place!
