A buddy of mine took his first college teaching position in Houghton,
he and his wife made it 3 winters, she came south, he followed.
His sons had gone off to college and he had to shovel the snow by himself.

Paglamon: Over here Indian food is a delicacy. You wouldn't believe how much money it costs. One day after paying $80.00 U.S. for a take-out order for 3 , I figured there must be a better way. I found an Indian grocery store and the women there was generous and showed me how to cook what I liked. The same $80.00 meal for 3 costs about $12.00 when you do it your self. I would love to take a trek to the mountains.

                          2 large onions sliced thin
                          2 large tomatoes diced
                          2 tbsps garlic paste
                          1 tbsp ginger paste
                          2 tsps coriander powder
                          1 tsp cumin powder
                          1/2 tsp turmeric powder
                          1/2 tsp red chilli powder
2 tsps garam masala powder( curry powder)
4 tbsps vegetable, canola, sunflower cooking oil
                          Chopped coriander to garnish

Heat the oil in a pan and fry the onions till golden brown. Remove from the oil with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Turn off fire.
Grind the onions into a smooth paste in a food processor
                          Remove into a separate container.
Now grind the tomatoes, garlic and ginger pastes together into a smooth paste.
Heat the remaining oil again and add the onion paste. Fry for 2-3 minutes. Now add the tomato paste and all the spices. Mix well.
Fry the masala till the oil begins to separate from it.
Add the chicken to the masala and brown well.
Add 1 1/2 cup of hot water to the chicken, simmer and cover. Cook till the chicken is tender.
Garnish with chopped coriander and serve with hot chapatis Indian flatbread Naans or plain boiled rice.

                            @ZeroG

Marinate steak in red wine, I prefer chiraz, and Dale's or Moore's marinade. If you don't have access to the marinades you can dilute worchestershire sauce to accomadate. Fill up container with wine until it cover half of the meat and then top off with the other marinade. I like mine to sit for a least 3 hours, but an hour will do.

I have a nice little rub and mixture I use on my steaks. A few hours like you say and they are ready to throw on. Super high heat on grille for a very short amount of time and they are just right. Nice rare/medium rare.
