Had a deal too good to pass on at a local over the counter OEM dealer, so I bought a Samsung SH-S182D SB04.
So far I have enabled the QS via registry tweak and the scanning results are comparable to my NEC.
Main difference I noticed is NEC finds PIF of 2 acceptable while Samsung burner does not, causing the QS scores of 99 and 95. Also the NEC ECC is 8 while the Samsung ECC is 1.
Start some test burns today.

I am finding this to be interesting. I saw a post where soup had mentioned there was a new update for Nero CD speed and I downloaded it.
I now have the 4.7.0.2 version and I see others here also have 4.7.0.2 but I dont see anyone else having the same tabs that I do I seem to have an additional tab for Advanced Quality Scan. How come others dont have this?
Here is the other scren shot of the same burn using the normal quality tab. Movie burned with IMGburn at 8X to TYG02, With BenQ 1650

Yes my old Optorite couldnt do the quality scans either but this is the first version that I have seen this extra tab since I have had my benQ I will have to check out that link you posted.
Thanks,
Edit:
Just took a look at that link and that is the same thread I saw Soup post there is a new version, I must have missed that other post on the new advanced quality scan tab.Last edited by photo_angel2004; 12 Feb 2007, 06:30 AM.Comment

same QS
two different medias, same QS, lower PI errors on the taiwan sony, substantially lower PI failures on the TY O2 sony.
I've viewed many disk quality pics from people, and the ratings at times confuse me...is there any rhyme or reason that some burners score well with lots of errors? and others dont? how does it all work?
What is a "good" score???Comment
