I might be missing something. I can still see unread posts. Even after the seperator for the threads have not been updated since last visit. The ones I read are dimmed, the ones I EDIT didn't read are still bold. That's the point - the unread ones are strill unread, even after 15 minutes or a logout. That allows you to know when things are unread.
And there was no poll. Just olyteddy's suggestion (which I thought was good, anyway).

If you want to emulate the old method, simply use the "mark all forums as read" option before you close the browser or log out. The only other significant difference is when you click on the "new posts" link twice or more. The old way would update your current list with new posts while keeping the read ones there (until the search expires in 15 minutes). The new method does exactly the same except the read ones are removed from the list, but the list will never expire. You can always use the "New posts from last 24 hours" option to see a complete list of read and unread threads anyway.
Other than the 2 above points, there really isn't that much difference between the old method and the new method. The important benefit is that you will never accidentally lose the list of unread threads just because your session timed out or you accidentally closed your browser, which happens to me (here and on other vB forums) quite often.Comment

i never had a problem. if i wanted to see threads i missed, i just selected new posts from last 24 hrs, 2 days etc....
sorry to be an ass, but there is always someone who will bitch and moan! i just hope it at least stays the way it is now for a number of years..."One day men will look back and say I gave birth to the 20th Century". Jack The Ripper - 1888

Trouble was looie, the "last 24 hours" weren't bold and you didn't know what was what. In fact, IIRC, this new way is very similar to the way we had it before v3.5 of vBulletin where only by reading a thread you could make it not bold.

Some change is just easier to take to then others. But in time everything changes.
Now that some time has gone by and I no longer have the never ending list in my usercp I guess its OK.
