For the week ending September 15, 2018, here are the stats:

    Percentage of revenue (MPN):
    Blu-ray vs DVD: 38.31% vs 61.69%

Blu-ray sales total spending: $20.31 million
DVD sales total spending: $32.71 million

    These stats available from here:

    Top 10:

The poor Blu-ray results continue despite an A-list-ish release in the form of Ocean's 8. It was the week's top seller on Blu-ray, but did not have a great lead over the three week old 'Deadpool 2'.

The only other new releases in the top 10 were The Big Bang Theory: The Complete Eleventh Season, in 7th place, and Superfly in 9th place.

Blu-ray revenue dropped again, with weekly Blu-ray market share dropping below 40% for the first time since February!

This week's Ultra HD Blu-ray report: Only "Ocean's 8" was made available on UHD out of the new releases mentioned above. 5 titles out of this week's top 10 had UHD editions.

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *, UHD releases denoted by +):
    1. Ocean's 8+
    2. Deadpool 2+
    3. Avengers: Infinity War+
    4. *Hocus Pocus
    5. Hereditary+
    6. *The Nightmare Before Christmas
    7. The Big Bang Theory: The Complete Eleventh Season
    8. Book Club
    9. Superfly
    10. The Greatest Showman+

Blu-ray, Ultra HD Blu-ray Sales Share:

BD sales share for a title is the percentage of disc packages sold for this movie that contained the Blu-ray edition of the film (including combos, and Ultra HD editions). So a BD sales share of 60% indicates that 60% of disc packages sold for this particular film contained the Blu-ray edition for this film, and so anything over 50% means that the Blu-ray version of the film was more popular than the DVD version.

'Superfly' managed to beat the other new releases in terms of BD sales share, with a BD sales share of 58.34%.

This was ahead of the 50.09% earned by "Ocean’s 8". The 4K UHD edition of the movie got a UHD sales share of 7.66%.

'The Big Bang Theory: The Complete Eleventh Season' managed 30%.

'Adrift' managed 46.74%, while 'Supernatural: The Complete Thirteenth Season' got 24%.

DVD sales decreased by $9.39m (down 22.3%), with unit sales down 19.1%.

Another quiet week means Blu-ray revenue and market share continued its retreat from recent highs.

Hereditary was actually the best selling new release for the week, but it could only get as high as 3rd place, behind last week's number 1 and 2, 'Deadpool 2' and 'Avengers: Infinity War'.

A couple of Halloween favourites are also making a comeback on Blu-ray (in yet another anniversary release), including Hocus Pocus in 5th and The Nightmare Before Christmas in 8th.

10th place also saw a new release, Adrift.

Outside of the Blu-ray top 20, Supernatural: The Complete Thirteenth Season sold enough copies to make it to 18th place on the combined Blu-ray and DVD chart.

This week's Ultra HD Blu-ray report: Only 'Hereditary' was made available on UHD out of all the new releases mentioned above. 7 titles out of this week's top 10 had UHD editions.

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *, UHD releases denoted by +):

'Hereditary' had the best BD sales share of all the new releases this week, with a first week BD sales share of 60.55%. It also had a very respectable first week UHD sales share of 13.81%.

'Adrift' managed 46.74%, while 'Supernatural: The Complete Thirteenth Season' got 24%.

After a couple of weeks of big releases, we're back down to earth in terms of Blu-ray revenue and market share. This isn't to say there weren't any new releases though, but the best selling new release, Book Club, only managed to finish 3rd.

The 4th and 5th places were also occupied by new releases, Tag and Upgrade.

Then it's all the way down to 17th for the next new release, Freedom Fighters: The Ray.

So as you can see, not the most exciting list of new releases, at least in terms of box office success.

This week's Ultra HD Blu-ray report: Disappointingly, none of this week's previously mentioned new releases were available on UHD. 7 titles out of this week's top 10 had UHD editions.

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *, UHD releases denoted by +):

    Top 10:

Blu-ray weekly market share remained above the 50% mark (meaning more Blu-ray discs were sold this week than DVDs), thanks to the release of another A-list title, Deadpool 2.

It easily outsold last week's number one, 'Avengers: Infinity War', despite the latest 'Avengers' movie still selling well.

Deadpool 2's strength also helped the 2 movie box set, the appropriately titled Deadpool: The Complete Collection (For Now), to get 3rd spot on the Blu-ray sales charts.

A couple of boxsets were then the next new releases, Ash vs. Evil Dead: The Complete Third Season and The Walking Dead: The Complete Eighth Season in 5th and 6th place respectively.

Seventh place was also a new release, God’s Not Dead: A Light in Darkness.

There were more new releases outside of the top 20. Bleeding Steel was 12th, Show Dogs in 17th and Action Point in 19th.

So lots of new releases, and one big new release, helped Blu-ray revenue stay above $40 million for the weel.

This week's Ultra HD Blu-ray report: Disappointingly, only 'Deadpool 2' and the 'Deadpool: The Complete Collection (For Now)' box set were available on UHD. 7 titles out of this week's top 10 had UHD editions.

The complete top 10 chart is below (new releases in bold, Blu-ray exclusives are denoted by *, UHD releases denoted by +):
    1. Deadpool 2+

So a BD sales share of 60% indicates that 60% of disc packages sold for this particular film contained the Blu-ray edition for this film, and so anything over 50% means that the Blu-ray version of the film was more popular than the DVD version.

'Deadpool 2' dominated the BD sales share chart as well, with 75.98%, just ahead of the 74.04% earned by 'Ash vs. Evil Dead: The Complete Third Season' (up from 67.18% for season 2 of the show).

'Bleeding Steel' had the next best BD sales share result, with 42.00%, while 'The Walking Dead: The Complete Eighth Season' managed 39.36% (down from 42.35% for the 7th season).

'Show Dogs' got 37.41% while 'God’s Not Dead: A Light in Darkness' managed 36.27%.

'Action Point' was actually only made available as a Blu-ray combo pack (and so its BD sales share would be 100%, although normally Blu-ray exclusives are not included in the BD sales share charts).

Despite the big release and the numerous other releases this week, Blu-ray revenue was down, but only just. 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2+', released this time last week, was just a slightly bigger release, it seems, as the combined might of 'Deadpool 2' and 'Avengers: Infinity War' just couldn't get things over the line.

Blu-ray sales decreased by $0.09m (down 0.2%), with unit sales down 4.8%.

DVD sales decreased by $7.85m (down 17.5%), with unit sales down 17.9%.

A big A-list release helped Blu-ray revenue rise to one of 2018's high points, all thanks to Avengers: Infinity War. It's no coincident that the other major milestones in 2018 were occupied by the likes of 'Thor: Ragnorak' and 'Black Panther' - Disney/Marvel is on a roll!

The release of the latest 'Avengers' movie was also an opportunity for Disney to make up for its previous lack of commitment to 4K (and also the age of these releases being from a time before UHD Blu-ray), with 4K re-releases of both 'The Avengers' and 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' - these two were 5th and 6th on the Blu-ray charts respectively.

The might of these 'Avengers' movies scared away others from releasing more high profile releases during the same week, and so the next and only other new release in the Blu-ray top 20 was Shock and Awe in 11th.

Failing to make the Blu-ray top 20, but getting in at 17th on the combined Blu-ray and DVD top 20 was The Yellow Birds.

The Marvel releases helped Blu-ray market share reach almost 60%.

This week's Ultra HD Blu-ray report: Other than 'Avengers: Infinity War' and the other 'Avengers' re-releases on 4K, there were no other 4K new releases in the top 20. 8 titles out of this week's top 10 had UHD editions.

    'The Yellow Birds' managed 31.23%

The Death of Superman was the week's best selling new release and the week's overall top seller, but only narrowly over the last two week's number one, 'Ready Player One'.

The next new release was the third placed Life of the Party, ahead of the fifth placed Breaking In.

The re-release of the the Predator movies on 4K helped Predator 3-Movie Collection get as high as 11th.

This week's Ultra HD Blu-ray report: Other than 'Predator' being a 4K release, 'The Death of Superman' was also made available on UHD. So that makes 6 titles out of this week's top 10 that had UHD editions.

None of the other previously mentioned new releases got over the 50% mark in terms of BD sales share, with 'Breaking In' getting the highest at 41.88%.

'Life of the Party' got 37.18%.

For the 4K releases, 'Predator 3-Movie Collection' really should be treated as a 4K Blu-ray exclusive release since there was no standard Blu-ray or DVD equivalent release of note. 'The Death of Superman' had a UHD sales share of 7.94%.

    Top 10:

'Ready Player One' held on to the number one spot in a week that didn't feature too many "outstanding" new releases.

The new release that sold the most copies this week was Overboard, but it only managed to get a top 3 finish.

Then it was all the way down to 9th for the next new release, Dark Crimes.

Star Wars Rebels: Complete Season Four finished in 12th place and Lego DC Comics Super Heroes: Aquaman - Rage of Atlantis was 19th.

So as you can see, hardly a super strong line-up of new releases, and as a result, Blu-ray revenue fell back compared to recent weeks.

This week's Ultra HD Blu-ray report: None of this week's new releases were available in UHD format. So that makes 6 titles out of this week's top 10 that had UHD editions.

Out of all of this week's new releases, 'Dark Crimes' actually had the best BD sales share, with an almost perfect 96.89%. This is not surprising, considering the DVD version is actually selling $1 more than the Blu-ray version on Amazon right now (and this kind of thing appears to be happening more frequently).

'Lego DC Comics Super Heroes: Aquaman - Rage of Atlantis' had the next best BD sales share with 59.80%, just beating the 58.09% earned by 'Star Wars Rebels: Complete Season Four'.

The week's top selling new release, 'Overboard', only managed 40%.

    Top 10:

There is only one release worth mentioning this week, not only because it was the only new release, but also because it's a blockbuster A-list release.

Ready Player One was the week's top seller easily, and also the week's only new release in the top 20.

All other titles seems to have deliberately avoided being released this week in order to not compete, but perhaps they didn't have too much to worry, since Blu-ray revenue was only average this week.

This week's Ultra HD Blu-ray report: 'Ready Player One' was released as a UHD. So that makes 6 titles out of this week's top 10 that had UHD editions.

'Ready Player One' not only topped the Blu-ray sales chart, it also topped the BD sales share chart, the 3D sales share chart and the UHD sales share chart!

'Ready Player One' had a BD sales share of 76.00%, which is quite fantastic, but it also managed a 3D sales share of 9.65%, quite high for 3D these days, and a high UHD sales share of 19.82%.

    Top 10:

Blu-ray revenue shot right up (while DVD revenue rose less strongly) thanks largely perhaps not to any particular new release, but to Amazon's Prime Day sales event, which has helped to move several older releases, including the Harry Potter 8-film collection movies on both Blu-ray and UHD.

As for new releases, Rampage was easily the week's top seller, beating Super Troopers 2 in second place.

Isle of Dogs in 5th was just ahead of I Feel Pretty in 6th.

Truth or Dare just missed out on a top 10 finish, at 11th, while Traffik failed to get into the Blu-ray top 10, but finished 19th on the combined Blu-ray and DVD chart.

This week's Ultra HD Blu-ray report: Of this week's new releases, only 'Rampage' was made available on UHD. So that makes 5 titles out of this week's top 10 that had UHD editions.

This week's actual top seller, 'Rampage', just failed to get over the 50% mark with 49.73%, with its 4K UHD edition getting a UHDBD sales share of 7.51%.

'Truth or Dare' got 47.81%, while 'I Feel Pretty' managed 45.79%.

Despite the release of an A-list title in the form of A Quiet Place, Blu-ray revenue stayed relatively unchanged from the recent low levels and market share was the same as well.

There were also 3 other new releases in the top 20, including Future World in 7th, Chappaquiddick in 12th and 211 in 16th.

This week's Ultra HD Blu-ray report: Only 'A Quiet Place' was made available on UHD out of the previously mentioned new releases. So that makes 6 titles out of this week's top 10 that had UHD editions.

For BD sales share, 'Future World' actually had the best out of the 4 new releases this week, with a near "perfect" 99.01%. It isn't too hard to fathom why this is the case when you look at the pricing - the Blu-ray version is currently $1.11 *cheaper* than the DVD version!

'A Quiet Place' didn't do too badly either, with 66.85%. Its 4K edition managed Ultra HD Blu-ray sales share of 12.81%, which is quite good for a new release.

    'Chappaquiddick' got 40% while '211' managed 30%.

It was always going to be an "all red" week unfortunately as 'A Quiet Place', which did quite well at the box office, was no match to this time last year's 'The Fate of the Furious'.

Another very quiet week in which there was only just the one new release in the entire top 20. At least Blockers did manage to get to the top spot. The quietness of the week isn't unexpected given the Fourth of July holiday and what this usually means for sales (not a great time to release anything, usually).

A pretty quiet week in terms of new releases, with only two new releases in the top 20.

The best selling of these new releases was Tyler Perry's Acrimony, but it only managed to secure fourth place.

Blu-ray revenue and market share dropped for the week ending June 23, compared to the previous week, because of the lighter slate of releases.

The biggest new release for the week, and also the week's overall top seller, was Pacific Rim Uprising. It easily outsold the number two title, and last week's number one, 'I Can Only Imagine'.

It was then all the way down to 6th place for the next new release, Paul, Apostle of Christ.

The other new releases were all out of the top 10, with Dragon Ball Super: Part 4 in 17th and Midnight Sun outside the Blu-ray top 20, but 19th on the combined Blu-ray and DVD chart.

This week's Ultra HD Blu-ray report: Only 'Pacific Rim Uprising' was available on UHD out of the previously mentioned new releases. So that makes 7 titles out of this week's top 10 that had UHD editions.

The same week a year ago was an even quieter week in terms of new releases (only the documentary 'Life', which finished in 4th place), but this week's Blu-ray and DVD revenue were still down in comparison. Unit sales of Blu-ray was actually up, but revenue down due to average Blu-ray prices dropping (and also the price of 'Life' being higher than your average release because it was a box set).

Fifth place was where the next new release, Sherlock Gnomes, placed. Followed closely in 6th place was Love, Simon.

Then it was all the way down in 19th place for the next new release, The Strangers: Prey at Night.

    Top 10:

Blu-ray revenue posted a small recovery from last week's lows, thanks to a couple of new releases, the best selling of which (and also the overall top seller of the week) was the much-maligned A Wrinkle in Time.

In a distant 3rd place was the next new release, Death Wish, while the re-release on Blu-ray of Peter Pan was 4th.

The Hurricane Heist in 7th was the next new release, while Avatar: The Last Airbender - The Complete Series in 10th rounded off the new releases in the top 10.

The 4K re-release of The Incredibles got an 11th place finish.

This week's Ultra HD Blu-ray report: Three separate titles had UHD editions out of the new releases listed above, including 'A Wrinkle in Time', 'The Hurricane Heist' and of course, the 4K re-release of 'The Incredibles'. So 8 titles out of this week's top 10 had UHD editions.
